Calligraphy at Hamilton House
Calligraphy isn’t just incredibly beautiful to look at it – this meditative practice is great for relaxation, it’s a lovely break from screen time, and inspires us to be at our most creative by using our hands. So without further ado, would you like a great calligrapher to help you master this art?
Spend some time with professional calligrapher Alison where you’ll design and create your very own unique piece of calligraphy. This is an opportunity to get away from technology and experience this calming historical art.
Alison will give you an introduction to this craft to get you started. Your workshop will cover:
- How to write with a broad/chisel edge pen
- Creating the component parts of each letter
- Designing and writing an individual piece of calligraphy work
Calligraphy marker pens will be used initially – this will lead on to trying a metal, broad-edged pen and a quill. Bring your favourite words to write during the experience, these can be anything at all (including dates).
As this is a small group setting, everyone will be supported throughout. No experience is needed, just a willingness to have a go and explore this unique and historical art.
